A Natural’s Guide To Summer Hair Care (Swimmer’s Hair Tips)

May 14, 2012 |  by  |  Beauty  |  No Comments

What’s your favorite thing to do during the summer? For me, it’s trips to the beach for fishing and swimming. I absolutely love the summer- there’s nothing like the smell of the ocean, sand between my toes, and the sun kissing my skin. But summertime, as awesome as it is, can also present a few challenges for hair. We all know how a day at the beach, or a dip in the pool, can wreak havoc on our tresses. And as someone who likes to get in the water up to 4 times a week, I can personally tell you that the risk of hair damage from harsh water and UV sun rays is very real. I love the water- but I also love my hair. And if you love getting in the water as much as I do, but are also curious about what hair precautions you should take, this post is definitely for you. May 7, 2012 |  by  |  Beauty  |  No Comments

I just love this time of year! Don’t you? You’ve got gorgeous weather for days, barbecues, cocktails with little umbrellas, and weekend trips to the beach. There’s just one major thing you have to look out for- sun damage to your hair and skin.

This is a time of year when you should pay extra attention to how well your skin is protected and how well your hair is moisturized and conditioned when you’re outdoors. How do you do this? One, make sure to wear sunblock. And two, make sure you use hair products that contain lots of water and moisture-boosting ingredients. Which brings me to a lovely little hair treatment that works extremely well at keeping hair conditioned- my Banana & Coconut Milk Hair Smoothie.  It’s very easy to make (tastes yummy too!) and is loaded with essential vitamins, minerals and antioxidants that help to nourish and protect your hair (and scalp) while you soak up the sun.

So what’s so great about the Banana & Coconut Milk Hair Smoothie? Let’s find out by taking a closer look at the ingredients…. Read More

Key To Happiness: Not Caring What Others Think

“Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don’t matter, and those who matter don’t mind.” — Dr. Seuss

I have learned that the key to happiness is being your most authentic self and not caring what other people think. Some may agree, some may disagree. But that’s what I believe.

Do you care too much what others think? Do you constantly seek approval from other people? Read More

What Your Sexual Fantasies Say About You

March 19, 2012 |  by  |  Blog, Love & Sex, Sex & Sexual Health  |  No Comments

Do you have sexual fantasies? Now before you say something like – “No, Dr. Phoenyx. I don’t have sexual fantasies. Especially not those really hot, kinky, dirty kind of fantasies” – let me first assure you that sexual fantasies are nothing to be ashamed of. Sexual fantasies are a natural way to escape reality, satisfy curiosity and even relieve anxiety.  It’s all perfectly normal and perfectly healthy.

Furthermore, sexual fantasies can even enhance our sexual experiences. How? Well, many people think sexual arousal and orgasm is about genital stimulation- but that’s incorrect. Want to know what your most powerful sex organ is? It’s your brain. That’s right. Your brain is your most powerful means of getting off and studies have shown that fantasizing can help women achieve orgasm.

That understood, have you ever wondered what your fantasies mean, or what they say about you? Ever had a hot lesbian fantasy and then started to wonder whether it meant you were interested in batting for the other team? You’ll soon find out. Read More

In Defense Of Snooping

March 17, 2012 |  by  |  Blog, Dating & Relationships, Love & Sex  |  5 Comments

I’ve snooped. And I’m not ashamed to admit it. Why? Because in EVERY case that led to snooping, I discovered exactly what I sensed- deception. I have confirmed a past lover’s unfaithfulness or general deceptiveness, and snooping gave me the ammunition I needed to definitively “pull the trigger” on the relationship. I haven’t snooped on every ex. But when a lover caused that little voice in my head to whisper “something ain’t right here girl,” I certainly did take it upon myself to check things out. And you know what? I do not feel the least bit guilty for it. I listened to my intuition and gave myself the peace of mind, as well as the closure I needed.

I’ve always found it interesting when folks give advice like: “You shouldn’t snoop. You should just talk to your partner. And if your partner says they’re not cheating/lying, just drop the issue. You’re probably just being insecure or paranoid. And even if they are cheating/lying, you still shouldn’t snoop. Eventually the truth will come to light anyway.”

Healthy Hair Must-Haves: 6 Natural Oils You Should Try

March 9, 2012 |  by  |  Beauty, Beauty2, Blog, Hair  |  33 Comments

I’m a firm believer that Mother Nature knows best when it comes to our health and our hair. I use a mix of natural and commercial cosmetic products. And while there are many commercial products that work great for hair, unfortunately there are also quite a few that contain chemicals that have been linked to serious health conditions like cancer (ie.parabens). That’s why it’s best to use all natural products or commercial products that have been specially formulated with all natural and plant based ingredients.

A few of these natural products are butters and oils- which are both formally referred to as natural emollients. I’m a big fan of using natural emollients because I know first-hand that they work wonders for keeping skin moisturized. They are also great for making hair softer, shinier, and even stronger.

If you’d like to try out a few natural oils/butter but don’t know where to start, I’ve included 6 simple all natural emollients that make a great addition to any beauty arsenal. Try them out and let me know how they work for you! Read More

Do You Snoop?

March 7, 2012 |  by  |  Blog, Dating & Relationships, Love & Sex  |  1 Comment

Have you ever spied on your man?  Have you ever snooped through his emails, checked his text messages, scrolled through his cell phone call history, scrolled through his laptop’s browser history, rummaged through his laundry, followed him in your car, or dare I say, even sat outside his house to see who’s coming in and out? Yes, this list may seem familiar to the “average snooper.” But trust me, it’s just the tip of iceberg. We haven’t even gotten into the more “elite” snooper’s arsenal of computer spyware or voice activated bugging devices.

It seems that playing Sherlock Homegirl is now becoming a very common practice among today’s women. In fact, a study last year showed that more than a third of women surveyed (33%) admitted to checking a boyfriend’s email or call history on the sly. And if you guessed the desire to snoop would be less among spouses, you’d be wrong. It was also found that slightly more married couples snoop on their spouses- 37% to be exact. Furthermore, the number of women that reported snooping on their partner’s has actually risen. Read More
