3 Surprising Things That Happen When You Stop Eating Bread

Before we get into today’s talk on bread, I wanted to make a quick announcement that my FitBeauty Giveaway is officially CLOSED. Congrats to the lucky winners and if you want to stay in the loop on blog updates and future giveaways, make sure to join my Exclusive Newsletter.

Ok, back to bread!

Now let me preface things by saying this: I do occasionally eat bread. No, bread is not a food I eat daily. But I do enjoy bread from time to time because lord knows I’m not giving up pizza! So rest assured ladies, I’m not trying to pressure you into completely giving up bread. Bottom line, the whole purpose of this blog post is to share information with fellow women who are curious about the wonderful health and beauty benefits of avoiding (or at least cutting back on) bread in your diet.

So without further adieu, let’s talk about the 3 amazing (and surprising) benefits that you may experience from not eating bread:

  1. Your skin will clear up!

You’ve most likely heard the saying that “beauty starts from the inside.” Well, there is also a similar saying in the health and wellness community which says that “what happens on the inside your body will be directly mirrored on your skin.”

And because our skin is our body’s largest organ, our diet is going to be the #1 factor that affects our overall skin health. So ladies, if your goal is healthy and glowing skin, you must make it a top priority to maintain a healthy diet that is rich in important skin nutrients and does not promote inflammation.

Now let’s talk a bit about inflammation: Sometimes women don’t realize that they may have a dietary sensitivity to wheat and gluten, which are both found in many varieties of bread. This is referred to as wheat intolerance and/or gluten sensitivity, and this type of food sensitivity can lead to inflammation within the body – which can then manifests itself in symptoms such as mild bloating, acne, and other skin issues.

Fortunately, in the case of wheat intolerance and gluten sensitivity, the solution is very simple – avoid bread. And many women are pleasantly surprised to notice an almost immediate improvement in the look and feel of their skin once they cut back on bread!

  1. Your belly will flatten!

Piggybacking off of what I mentioned above, cutting back on bread could also help with relieving that annoying puffiness and bloating around your midsection. Furthermore, another reason why cutting back on bread can lead to a flatter belly is because bread is full of highly processed “fast carbs” which can lead to weight gain. If you’d like a more detailed explanation on “fast carbs” versus slow carbs” and How to Eat Carbs and Not Gain Weight  check out my video below.

  1. You’ll have more energy!

Finally, the last surprising benefit of cutting back on bread is that you’ll have more energy!

Don’t believe me?

Well, let’s take a trip down memory lane and think about the last time you ate a nice, big, delicious Italian sub for lunch. How did you feel after? Did you feel a bit sluggish or like you were ready for a nap?

This is very common after eating bread.

Want to know why?

It’s the carbs!

Ladies, here’s something to always keep in mind when it comes to carbs:

Eating carbohydrates triggers the release of feel-good brain chemicals that help us to relax. So when we eat carbohydrate-rich foods (like bread), the end result is that we tend to become more relaxed, sluggish, and even sleepy. In addition to that, bread is also a high glycemic food, and foods that are high on the glycemic index are notorious for causing insulin and blood sugar levels to spike. Now, this rapid rise in blood sugar may initially make you feel more energetic and even happy, but when the sugar leaves your bloodstream, you’ll then soon find yourself feeling very tired due to the dip in blood sugar.

All the above stated, there are quite a few benefits to cutting back on your consumption of bread – and the 3 benefits that I listed above are just a few. So if clearer skin, more energy, and having a flatter belly sounds good to you, then you may want to give eating less bread a shot!
